Return to book synopsis

Since 1990, when I took my essential first step on my personal healing pathway (stopping drinking alcohol) I have been learning. I now understand that what's outside us reflects what's inside us; that all of life is One. My recovery from addictions is One with the healing from the illness in my body is One with my work is One with my emotional healing and so on.

Throughout my healing journey my consciousness of the perfection of Life has grown. A wonderful insight that was revealed to me in 1991, I stand by today. This was the way I justified to myself the decision to put myself at the centre of my life. "At the root of all oppression lies the challenge to take our own liberation seriously; at the heart of our affirmation of human equality is our belief in our own worth and inherent value as human beings. The meaning of liberation is found in our commitment to our own health and wholeness, our own healing, our own life."

My conventional career began in 1995. This is when I made a film, which was shown on national TV in Britain - Channel 4. That film was making a bold positive statement about the naturalness of lesbian sexuality and promoting a positive image of people who have been through an experience of 'abuse'. 'Three kisses and a funeral' was inspired by a character from a British soap opera played by Anna Friel, her first adult role. I also met the woman with whom I founded the Rainbow Programme, the charity for which I now work. The Rainbow Programme is founded on the principle that healing is always possible. It offers access through support, including financial subsidy, to a holistic range of therapies for people who are in a process of healing from an experience which they defins as abuse.

Louise Hay and especially her book "You can heal your life", have been of central importance to me in my self-healing journey. In 1998 I did my first Louise Hay workshop, during which I met so powerfully with the truth that the power to heal is within me, that next day I literally could not walk! Although Louise Hay has been a guiding light for me she was not the first.  That I credit both to Vicki Noble (co-creator of Mother Peace Tarot) and Clarissa Pinkola Estés (Author of 'Women who run with the Wolves'). Through the study of their work, I learned to connect to my intuition.  More recently I have also begun to study 'Course in Miracles'.

An astrologer once told me that I have everything in place in my chart to become a powerful communicator in the world. The illness I have created in my body - MS - is a dis-ease of the nervous system. Nerves are all about communication. So communication is essential for my personal healing and is also part of my Higher purpose.

I am moving forward in ever increasing health and prosperity. Although my health is increasingly good, I am still on a pathway of healing from MS. In Loving your Body' I explain and explore how moving into our creative power can cause us to meet our 'resistance' in the form of a physical illness. These days when I experience symptoms I see them as opportunities for learning and growth; my body is speaking to me, it's up to me to listen and hopefully undeerstand

My future plans include the further development of my work with the Rainbow Programme. I am also currently moving towards professional training as an Anthroposophical Art Therapist. (Anthroposophy is the philosophy founded by Rudolf Steiner that promotes being in harmony with nature and honouring the freedom of every person).

My doctor once told me quoting from the 'Ode to Joy' by Schiller "The magician in you must bind together that which convention has forced apart". I have been taking this as my motto ever since.

All is well
